Grants and Scholarships

Our Team

Grants (partial financial aid)

We offer need-based grants ranging from $1000-2000 based on income. If your annual household income is less than $160,000, you may qualify to receive a grant. If you are in need of reduced tuition through a grant, please contact kate@wozasoccer.com before submitting an application to join us this summer.

We have taken the time to critically think through how best to offer an accessible product in line with our mission and values as a nonprofit, while also developing a sustainable business and continuing to offer this opportunity summer after summer. If you would like to discuss this effort further with one of our directors, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We want every high school and college soccer player to be able to access the adventurous, life-changing opportunity Woza has to offer. Accessibility is a cornerstone of our mission and we seek to help every family afford the experience. During the 2019 season, Woza awarded over $71,000 in tuition through need-based grants and full scholarships. There are many different ways we can help your family make a Woza trip part of your summer.

Full Scholarships

Woza also offers a set number of scholarships to qualified applicants. For the past three years, we've awarded 11 full scholarships each summer and plan to do the same for the 2020 season. Unlike our need-based grants, a limited number of full scholarship recipients are selected from a pool of applicants who have submitted our Scholarship Application. We ask that full scholarship recipients fundraise at least $500 towards their trip costs and remain flexible with their summer dates and destinations.

Scholarship applications must be received by our deadline of March 1st, 2020 to be eligible for this program. The application will become available on February 1st, 2020. Applicants must have a US passport valid through February 2021, or be able to acquire a passport by the application deadline. Contact arielle@wozasoccer.com for more information about this program and to receive an application.

Fundraising

Along with our partial grants and full scholarships, many Woza players fundraise towards a portion of their program fee. We are happy to support fundraising endeavors by providing players with a fundraising toolkit and access to an online crowd-funding platform to enable each player to raise money from their team, local community, network, and friends. Contact arielle@wozasoccer.com for more information.

Interested in helping keep Woza accessible?

Woza Soccer was born out of a collection of deeply positive personal experiences gained from traveling all over the world with the game of soccer in one's back pocket. It is vividly clear to our organization, and tightly entwined in our basic values, that soccer players have an incredible opportunity to use the sport to serve others and make their own travels far more meaningful. We want to make this type of experience open to anyone who loves the game.

Woza is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donation revenues help fund participant scholarships and grants, administrative costs, and our sport for development partners abroad. Your support means the world to us. Thank you.

" I was able to view my sport as a tool I could use to help my community, and the communities around me." - ERin, Larchmont, N.Y.

Woza offers accessible international summer service trips for high school and college soccer players, using the game to create connections across cultures and support Sport for Development and Peace organizations around the world. With soccer, service work, and cultural immersion at the heart of each itinerary, we strive to broaden perspectives of players by demonstrating their abilities to connect with people of all backgrounds and engage long term in soccer-focused social impact.
